HUNGRY HOUSE

About

Hungry house is a mobile puzzle game where you need to feed your house by throwing cute creatures around. Experience fun and interesting puzzles as you travel through three different worlds on your quest to finally get your rest.

The game was our second game project at The Game Assembly and it was made in Unity C# over 6 weeks halftime.

Awards

For this game, we were nominated for Mobile Game of the Year and Best Art at the Swedish Game Awards 2022!

We got invited to the Swedish Game Awards Gala in Stockholm and we had a very good time there with fancy food and drinks.

The day before we attended the Playtest & Showcase for SGA'22 and were assigned a booth at a gaming bar to display our game, and it was so awesome to talk to the game-interested people there and have them try our game for the first time!

MY CONTRIBUTIONS

 Throwing Creatures

I was mainly responsible for only one big thing this project, and that was throwing the creatures around.

Firstly, there is the logic behind it. Are some squares blocked? Are there carnivores who will eat the creatures, how many? Which creatures should be thrown off and why?

And when we added swords to the third area, things got even more interesting, we now had to deal with halves. In the end, it turned out to work very smoothly, we even had no bugs... Right?

 Throwing Feedback

Then there was all the visual feedback behind the throw.

Since all you did in the game was throw creatures around, we wanted it to feel really nice. We made the creatures follow a majestic arc when thrown, spin around in the air, fall majestically off the platforms, and even a tiny detail such as the creature-halves leaving small blood spots behind.

Ultimately it turned out very nicely, everything about the throw feels very smooth and super satisfying, just as we had planned.
