KAKKOI

About

Kakkoi is a runner game where you play as a Koi-fish swimming through the beautiful nature of Japan, avoiding natural obstacles and creatures.

The game was our first ever game project at The Game Assembly and it was made in Unity C# over 6 weeks halftime.

MY CONTRIBUTIONS

Multiple Water Levels

Our level designers had a great idea where they wanted to splash between the main river and small ponds on the sides.

The only problem was that the game was very hard-coded to only support the fish swimming at the same height.

In the end, this turned out to be a great addition to the game, making levels more interesting with some height difference to play with.

Checkpoints

The game was rather difficult on some parts of the levels, so we had to add checkpoints.

This made the game a lot less frustrating and a much more enjoyable experience.

Unity & Perforce Support

As this was our first ever game project, none of us had used Perforce as revision control, and not all of us had used the Unity game engine before. This came with its fair share of challenges and issues.

To make sure the entire group could work and have a smooth pipeline, I helped out wherever needed.
